Exhibitry designed and built next-generation VR interfaces rigorous enough for real space-flight operations, while keeping the experience legible for the general public.
Our futurist designers and VR specialists researched the demands of deep-space operations to build intuitive interfaces and realistic simulations across a range of mission tasks: external robotic operations and spacecraft navigation among them.
The simulations gave the NASA team a platform to evaluate the technology and gather astronaut feedback throughout development. The capsule mockup stands at the Johnson Space Center for virtual trials and physical testing.
Drawing on Kubrick, we built a HAL-like narrated guide, the Narrated Procedure Log Display, to walk any user through precise procedures. The same work now plays for the public inside Gateway at Kennedy Space Center.
Feedback from NASA astronauts and officials was strongly positive, demonstrating VR’s potential to improve efficiency and safety in space operations.

The mission interface was designed with NASA to be rigorous enough for real robotic operations and legible enough for a first-time visitor.

External robotic operations are flown from inside the simulation, with the arm and the station modelled to scale.

The Narrated Procedure Log Display — a HAL-inspired guide — walks any user through each step of the procedure.
